Most scanners come with their own scanning software, which are quite limited. If you wish to work with scanned documents faster and easier, you should turn to third party applications. RiDoc can fit scanned documents and images on A4 pages and reduce their size, without a significant impact on their quality. Moreover, the application includes an OCR feature and it provides support for batch scanning.

You don't have to sacrifice too much disk space or processing power for RiDoc. It works on all popular Windows platforms and it can be installed in a few moments. The software is not free, but you can use its trial version, for 30 days, without any restrictions.

You can scan single documents, by clicking a button, on the program's toolbar, when a document is loaded in the scanner. Alternatively, you can start RiDoc's AutoScan feature, which scans documents continuously, at a given interval. Scanned documents are listed on the left side of the interface and you can preview them in the central region. Their brightness and contrast levels can be adjusted on a separate window.

After selecting one or more documents, by clicking their check boxes, you may click different options to recognize their characters or send the documents to an assembly. Once you add one or more documents to the assembly, you can use the available options, located on the software's toolbar, to insert them in MS Word or Open Office documents, PDF files or send them by email.

It is also possible to print the scanned documents. If you add one or more items to the assembly, the software will fit them in A4 format automatically. This feature is particularly useful for fixing documents that are not formatted correctly. You just need to scan your papers, add them to the assembly and print them. Watermarking documents is another possibility. You can select a watermark style and color and set its transparency and size, in the lower right corner of the interface.

Pros

The software is capable of scanning documents continuously, at a certain interval. It fits the scanned items automatically and it allows you to adjust their brightness and contrast and add watermarks. RiDoc provides an OCR function and it can send scanned documents to Word, Open Office or PDF files.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention. With RiDoc, documents can be scanned, adjusted and fitted fast and easy.
